First aid charity secures Leith training centre

SCOTLAND’S dedicated first aid charity is moving its training centre to new premises after buying property in Leith.

The building, in Dock Place, was previously owned by computing and internet company Pulsant.

St Andrew’s First Aid, currently based in Torphichen Street, will move in to the 3786 square feet open-plan office next year.

Camille Casey of property consultant CBRE, which oversaw the deal, said: “Leith is a thriving area for commercial property, however, freehold opportunities suitable for smaller single occupiers are limited, so it wasn’t surprising that we received a number of enquiries about this building, demonstrating the demand that exists for the location.”

Stuart Callison, chief executive of St Andrew’s First Aid, said: “Despite the fact that many other major charities are having to cut staff and services, SAFA has ambitious plans to raise public awareness of the importance of a good knowledge of first aid and to recruit new members to its team of volunteer first aiders, a familiar sight at events all across Scotland such as T in the Park.

“Once it comes on stream in 2013, Dock Place will provide a more modern setting for our commercial activities, which go a long way to funding our charity work, and provide room for future growth.”
