Firm appeals car sales rule

IT IS one of the second-hand car dealer’s best tricks - to move a used car on quickly.

However, that practice is being hampered at Arnold Clark on Seafield Road thanks to a council ruling which prevents the company reselling cars within 48 hours.

The firm has appealed that decision, and the local authority confirmed it will re-examine the case on Friday.

It follows a ruling by Edinburgh Sheriff Court which said the council did not look at the original case in sufficient detail.

The rule is designed to limit the sale of stolen cars.
