Fireworks event bang up to date

THE company behind Oban’s short-lived fireworks display, which saw £6,000 worth of pyrotechnics explode in less than a minute, has offered the town a second show free of charge.

Pyro1 Fireworks confirmed the second display will take place on 27 November.

Footage of Friday’s spectacular but short display has attracted thousands of views on video-sharing website YouTube.

Caroline Burdett, company secretary for Pyro1, said the technical hitch was caused by timings being entered in milliseconds rather than seconds.

“It’s never happened to us before,” she said.
