Fire tackled in prison cell

Firefighters were called after a blaze was sparked in a prison cell in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The fire broke out at the men’s Addiewell Prison, in West Lothian, at about 4:30am.

A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said a 49-year-old man was involved.

He was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene, but 
an ambulance spokesman 
said that he was not taken to hospital.
