Members of staff were evacuated from the building by firefighters.

A Burton’s spokesperson said: “We can confirm that there was a fire at the Burton’s Edinburgh site over the weekend affecting one of our 12 production lines, which was attended to by the emergency services.

“There were no casualties and all staff on site were safely evacuated.

“Burton’s has been working hard since the incident, in partnership with the fire brigade, to ensure that the site is safe and fully operational. Normal production has now been resumed.”

The fire was extinguished by 9.55pm.
