Film-maker to be honoured

THE award-winning film-maker who lovingly captured the Capital in the animated hit The Illusionist is to receive an honorary degree from Edinburgh University.

Sylvain Chomet, who spent five years living in the city, will receive the honour in the McEwan Hall on November 28.

The director, who has now settled back in his native France, will have the doctorate bestowed by vice-chancellor and principal, Sir Timothy O’Shea.

The ceremony will be followed by a civic reception at the City Chambers hosted by the Lord Provost Donald Wilson.
