Festival footy is game for a laugh

THIS Sunday, a team of performers from the Laughing Horse's Free Festival (www.freefestival.co.uk) will take on the Hibs Girls under 17s football team, after the gauntlet was laid down by Scottish comedienne Jojo Sutherland's daughter, Ciara Donaldson, who plays for Hibs.

Sutherland will manage the Free Festival team and is looking for talented Fringe comic footballers to join captain Nik Coppin.

Comedian Tony Cowards, who is starring in the Fringe show 'Festival of Football' at the Edinburgh City football club venue is hotly anticipated tipped to be the team's answer to David Beckham, despite supporting Ipswich Town – a team more often associated with comedy than football. Other comedians tipped to be in the starting eleven on Sunday are Donald Mack, Karen Bayley, Dan Willis and goalie Craig Shaynak.

This will be a full 90 minute match, and The 90-minute match will be played at the Castle View community Centre on Craigmiller Craigmillar Castle Avenue, with kick-off at 10.30am.

Supporters for both teams are welcome, with the match completely free to watch. Donations are welcome to cover the costs of plasters, bandages and medicinal drinks. Revell in Nick's return to stage

COMEDIAN Nick Revell returns to the Edinburgh Festival next week with his new solo show, Sleepless, at the Gilded Balloon. Next Tuesday, Revell, who lists Drop The Dead Donkey among his writing credits, will be joined on stage by BSL interpreter Jo Ross for a performance funded by the Deaf Children's Society of East Scotland.

Returning to Holyrood after last year's successful run, this year's World Press Photo exhibition features stunning images documenting people, places and events from across the world.
