Festival aims for record

RECORD numbers are expected at this weekend's Meadows Festival if the good weather holds up, organisers have said.

It is hoped gate receipts will eclipse the 12,000 achieved last year across the two-day bash, which begins today and is being officially opened by Lord Provost George Grubb.

A new entry at the festival is the family dog show and free dog-microchipping, which can cost between 15 and 30.

Musical entertainment will be provided across two stages as well as a slew of children's activities.
