Female gang kicks 12-year-old Asian girl in head during street attack

A GROUP of girls as young as 12 attacked an Asian youngster who had to be rescued by passers-by, police have revealed.

Alisha Khan, aged 12, was viciously assaulted by the gang in Piershill, Edinburgh. Eyewitnesses said that the gang took it in turns to kick the defenceless girl in the head in broad daylight.

Last night her family said she had received a racist message on Facebook in the days before the assault on Sunday evening.

The child, who was hospitalised with her arm in a sling, said there may have been half a dozen people taking part in the attack.

She said: “I think there might have been five or six of them, but I couldn’t see when I was on the ground. I had my hands over my head as they kicked me. One of them also banged my head against the wall.”

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman said they were investigating the attack.
