Fears grow for woman missing for three weeks

Police have released CCTV pictures in a bid to trace Laura Gorrie, who was seen boarding a bus to Glasgow on May 22, the day she was reported missing.

After travelling to Glasgow, the 30-year-old was seen catching a train at the city’s Central Station, heading for Blackpool.

Ms Gorrie, who lives in Edinburgh’s High Street, suffers from diabetes and her health has been a concern for her family as she requires regular medication.

Police are contacting GPs across the country in a bid to establish whether Ms Gorrie has been getting prescriptions as they search for her.

Ms Gorrie has a mobile phone, but investigators have not been able to use its signal to locate her.

Detective Sergeant Willie Falconer, who is leading the inquiry, said that Ms Gorrie had gone missing in the past for short periods to locations such as Inverness, Blackpool and Glasgow, but the length of her current disappearance was causing concern.

He said: “She lives with her mum in the High Street and her mum is getting quite anxious now. There’s nothing to suggest anything sinister or untoward about her disappearance but she has never been away this long before. She has not made contact with any family or friends during this time.

“Because of her diabetes we are making inquiries with doctors to try and find out whether she has found an alternative means to get her medication.

“We’ve been in contact with police in Blackpool and Glasgow to work with them and get out an appeal for information.

“We want to get a message out to Laura that she’s not in any bother, her family just want to hear that she’s OK.”

Ms Gorrie is described as 5ft 8in tall, heavy build, long brown hair, and wearing glasses. When last seen she was wearing blue jeans, a red jacket, black trainers with white soles, and carrying a Burberry-style bag.

A police spokesman said: “She is known to frequent amusement arcades, which may explain why she travelled to Blackpool.

“What we don’t know is whether she has returned to Scotland, and we would urge anyone who thinks they have seen her, either in Blackpool or elsewhere, to contact police immediately on 0131-311 3131, or Crimestoppers in anonymity on 0800 555 111.”

Officers launch search for Capital resident

A MAN who disappeared after being dropped off in Leith by a friend is being sought by police.

Michal Grabiarz, 27, was left in Great Junction Street early last Tuesday and has not been seen or heard from since.

He is white, six feet tall and stocky, with blue eyes, short brown hair and a birthmark below his left eye.

Mr Grabiarz was last seen wearing a dark jacket and dark jogging bottoms, and was carrying a holdall which possibly had “Wisla Krakow” written on it.

A police spokesman said: “We are keen to trace Michal as soon as possible and would urge anyone who believes they may have seen him since last Tuesday to contact police.”
