Fears 'bouncy' Rangers fans may cause major accident

FANS of Rangers Football Club have been banned from doing the "bouncy bouncy" on Subway trains in Glasgow over concerns it could cause a derailment.

Transport bosses have warned that the Subway will be shut down on Ibrox match days if supporters do not stop bouncing up and down in the carriages.

The boisterous celebrations take place on the trains before and after games. Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) has appealed to the club to help prevent a major accident.

The space between carriages and tunnel walls is less than half a metre in parts of the network and trains are packed with up to 100 passengers at a time on match days.

David Wallace, director of the Subway at SPT, warned lives could be lost if the practice is allowed to continue. He said: "The 'bouncy bouncy' is a major accident waiting to happen."
