Father of the bride badly injured on stag night out

THE father of a bride-to-be was recovering in hospital yesterday after he was seriously assaulted while enjoying a stag night with his future son-in-law.

The 60-year-old, who is being treated for a head injury, was attacked by a group of men in Glasgow's West End on Saturday night.

He had been walking down Byres Road with friends when words were exchanged with three men outside the Common Rooms pub on the corner of Chancellor Street.

The stag party continued down Byres Road but the three men followed and launched an attack at around 10.30pm, police said.

More people, thought to be friends of the suspects, then spilled out from the Common Rooms, and the 60-year-old man was caught up in the altercation.

He was seriously assaulted and fell, striking his head on the pavement, officers said.

He was being treated in the Western Infirmary where his condition was described as stable.
