Fat moggy slims down for award

A SCOTS fat cat who could only waddle after learning to open her owner's fridge has shed more than two pounds to be crowned pet slimming champion of the year by an animal welfare charity.

Amber, from Craigmillar, Edinburgh, weighed 1.1 stone at the start of the PDSA challenge in September, more than 60 per cent over her ideal weight.

Penny Faulkner, 26, who adopted an already overweight Amber from a rescue centre last July, said: "She was a cheeky thing. She learned how to open the fridge and so was often raiding it."

The 12-year-old moggy now weighs only 12lb.
