Fashion: How to create an office outfit that changes into party gear with just a few simple tweaks

December can leave the ladies feeling a little demented. There’s Christmas shopping to be done, dinners to arrange, nights out to sort - and a limited wardrobe to do it all in.

Every minute is accounted for from the first to the last day of the month, with many, many outfits to plan in between.

Do yourself a favour and double up on dressing to save yourself some time.

Go straight from the office to your Christmas party with minimum fuss by wearing your evening frock to work.

Think about it, that way there’s no need to carry around a cumbersome overnight bag crammed full of clothes all day, and you can slip from your desk to the dance floor simply by tweaking a few items.

All you have to do is accessorise correctly to banish the bulky bag, and with a few tricks, even wearing a ball gown to work is possible.

The key to this look is getting your foundation frock right. The choice on the high street this festive period is fantastic so whittling down your favourite is the hardest part to the whole process.

Opting for a maxi dress maybe the easiest way to make the transition from day to night.

For day time, find a chunky knit to throw over the top of your frock. Cardigans are the best bet as you can belt them to add shape. Keep everything dressed down by adding flat boots.

Then, for your evening transformation, toss the knitwear and layer on lashings of statement jewellery to glam up the garment. Don’t forget to finish the look off with some killer heels.

If you don’t want to do a dress, playsuits are a great option. The shorts are easily hidden under trousers for a more day-appropriate look at work. Team them with a classic pair of pumps to give your feet a rest before a busy night ahead.

To turn this into a night time look, take off the trousers and slip on a sequin top, finishing it all off with some fabulous footwear.

You can even tame an elaborated beaded mini by covering it up with a great tailored suit during the day. Dresses over suit trousers always looks good and the hint of sparkle at your desk will get you in the mood for the evenings festivities.

Leave the suit at the office and fling on a feathered cape to create a stunning vintage inspired Christmas outfit and you’re good to go.
