Family’s 900-mile trip to rehome puppy

A SCOTTISH family made a 900-mile round trip to become the owners of a puppy saved by an animal rescue charity after it was abandoned in the freezing cold.

Brad and Michelle George, from Kirkcaldy, rearranged their Hogmanay plans to make the trip to Battersea Dogs And Cats Home in south London to pick up six-month-old English bull terrier Hugo.

He had been dumped, along with five littermates, in a box, near Kingston, in November.

The George family saw Hugo on Battersea’s Facebook page in December, as part of a rehoming appeal.

Mr George said: “When we saw the pictures of the poor puppies on the internet, we just knew that Hugo was the dog for us.”

Dee McIntosh, Battersea’s director of communications, said: “We’re thrilled Hugo is now in Scotland and we really appreciate the commitment Brad and Michelle have shown in rehoming him.”
