Four women and three young children were at home in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire, on Thursday afternoon when the men raided the property in search of cash.

They tied up the women in the Hillside Road robbery, which police believe was not a random attack.

The men both wore a fluorescent vest over a black coat, heavy work boots, gloves and a black woolly hat. It is understood they were not armed.

Detective Inspector Ian Hylands, from Greater Glasgow CID, said: “This was a terrifying experience for the family concerned. Thankfully the occupants of the house were not seriously injured, however it is imperative that we trace the two individuals responsible.

“I’d like to reassure the local community that at this time we believe this was not a random attack, however, I’d like to appeal to the local community to come forward with any information they have.

“The incident occurred in broad daylight, so I am hopeful that some people in the local area may have information which could assist with our inquiries.”

The men were both white and spoke with Scottish accents. One is described as in his late-40s, stocky, clean shaven and wore glasses. The second is in his mid-30s, slim, with stubble and dark hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
