Family gives gigantic fish to aquarium

A GIANT Amazonian fish which can grow up to a metre in length has been donated to Deep Sea World after outgrowing its home aquarium.

The silver arowana, which currently measures around 30cm long, is being cared for in quarantine before being transferred to the aquarium’s giant Amazon display next month.

It was donated by a family in Grangemouth who had looked after it in a 4ft tank.

Deep Sea World’s Michael Morris said: “The fish is in excellent condition and has clearly been well looked after.

“The family definitely did the right thing in getting in touch as these are fast-growing fish and the tank it was living in was just not suitable.

“Once he’s been given a clean bill of health we’ll be able to transfer him to our spacious Amazon display where he will have plenty of room to explore and carry on growing.”
