Family ‘bereft’ after man’s body is found

THE family of a man missing since Hogmanay have said they are “utterly bereft” at the discovery of his body.

George McDonald, 51, disappeared from his home in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, on 31 December. Police said his remains have been found in the village of Saline, Fife.

In February, Mr McDonald’s sister-in-law Jean, 30, appealed for the public’s help in finding him, describing the month since his disappearance as a “living hell”.

Mr McDonald, a keen fisherman, had poor mental health. His family said: “George was a family man who adored all of his family and was adored back by them.

“We are utterly bereft and are having difficulty coming to terms with the fact we will never see him again.”
