In a statement released by Grampian Police, a family spokesman said: “We each have our own special memories of the time we spent with Amanda and we will treasure these forever.

“It is impossible to describe the loss we’re feeling at the moment and I don’t know if we will ever come to terms with it.

“Amanda’s death has left a huge void in our lives that can never be filled.

“She was well-known, a friend to many and will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

“We are grateful to friends and family for their support at this difficult time and would like to ask that the media allow us privacy to grieve.”

Ms Leiper previously lived in Dundee before moving to Aberdeen about ten years ago.
