False teeth turn up in beach clean

False teeth, sofa cushions and a lone volleyball were among the foreign objects discovered and removed from Cramond beach during a community clean up.

The Big Beach Clean-up at Cramond beach in Edinburgh, organised by the Marine Conservation Society & Marks and Spencer, saw 215 people retrieve rubbish found washed up on the beach on Friday.

Around 350kg of rubbish was scooped up by 70 schoolchildren, who were joined by 80 adult volunteers and 60 Marks & Spencer staff.

Barbara Heslop from Marks & Spencer in Edinburgh said: “It was great to see so many people of all ages coming out to do their bit for the environment and we relished the chance to get out onto the beach along with customers to help.

“We’d like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who rolled their sleeves up and helped clean up Cramond Beach.”
