Extradition bid in city lawyer stabbing case

Prosecutors are attempting to extradite a 45-year-old man in connection with the attempted murder of an accountant outside his home four years ago.

Leslie Cumming was stabbed repeatedly outside his Murrayfield address on 23 January, 2006.

At the time of the attack Mr Cumming, who was 62, had been a chief accountant with the Law Society of Scotland for 22 years.

Mr Cumming was taken to hospital with multiple stab and slash wounds to his face and body.

It is understood the man prosecutors want to bring back to Scotland is in custody after being arrested in Australia.
