An extension for primary

A MAJOR extension is planned for a Midlothian primary school.

Midlothian Council plans to create three class bases at the rear of Rosewell Primary, together with a central atrium and resource centre.

Additional features will include a staff room, a visitor entrance and office, additional dining accommodation, a headteacher’s room and a janitor’s office.

The extension will cater for predicted school roll rises.

It is also proposed that the Carnethie Street building be remodelled to form nursery accommodation.

Based on a classroom capacity of 30 youngsters, this influx would see the school roll exceed the building’s capacity of 125 pupils.

It is expected that 78 new pupils will arrive in the area.
