Professor Stuart Ralston will make the speech, Overcoming Osteoarthritis, on Saturday at the National Museum of Scotland in Chambers Street.
The professor of rheumatology at Edinburgh University, who suffers from the condition himself, will be joined by orthopaedic surgeon Colin Howie from Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, who will talk about developments in joint replacement surgery, and a patient who has benefited from the operation.

Hide AdThere will also be the chance to hear about early results of Arthritis Research UK’s major osteoarthritis genetics study, and a question-and-answer session.
