Estate worker killed by a falling tree

A MORAY estate worker has been killed after being struck by a falling tree.

Graham Duff, 43, was found dead on Thursday afternoon following the accident on the Dunphail Estate, ten miles south of Forres.

A spokesman for Grampian Police said: “Personnel from Grampian Fire and Rescue, Air Ambulance and Braemar Mountain Rescue Team attended the scene, where despite efforts to resuscitate Mr Duff, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Grampian Police and the Health and Safety Executive are making joint inquiries into the cause of the incident and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokeswoman for the Health and Safety Executive said: “We are aware of the incident at Dunphail Estate and we are investigating.”

The estate is owned by Mark Laing, who inherited the property two years ago when his father, Lord Hector Laing, died. Lord Laing was a former managing director and chairman of United Biscuits.
