Estate agent homes in on better sales

A LEADING Edinburgh estate agent has reported an uplift in sales this year.

Bosses at Warners say that sales have remained resilient despite the economic downturn.

The company said it had sold 600 properties with a total sales value of £100 million so far this year – surpassing its figures for the whole of 2010.

The firm said sellers were now inclined to set a more modest price for their property in order to achieve a sale.

Scott Brown, estate agency partner at Warners, said: “The conditions this year have been extremely challenging. Prices have remained relatively unchanged and buyer confidence has been fairly low across the country.

“The reality is that every local market presents its own challenges, so the “one-size fits all” approach that many companies were happy to offer when the market was booming is no longer an option.”
