Stay safe on bonfire night at a public display

The annual fireworks display organised by North and South Lanarkshire Councils takes place at Strathclyde Park on Monday, November 5.

The bonfire will be lit at 6.45pm and the fireworks display will start at 7.30pm. A funfair, provided by M&D’s Theme Park, will run from 4.30-9pm near the Watersports Centre, and X Factor stars Cutkelvins will headline the Clyde 1 roadshow.

On Sunday, December 4, three events will take place from 7.30pm at St Maurice’s High in Cumbernauld, Airdrie Leisure Centre and Dunbeth Park in Coatbridge.

Executive Director for Enterprise and Communities Robert Steenson said: “Our free events are a great way to enjoy Guy Fawkes Night safely with some of the best fireworks displays in the area.

“All four displays are organised in partnership with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, which recommends that people attend organised fireworks displays.

“We are encouraging residents to come along to one of our events for a fun, safe, family night out.”

Information about the events is available at www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk/fireworks.

Visitors to Strathclyde Park are advised to allow plenty of time for their journey, follow road signs and directions from police and marshals, and to park responsibly.

Sparklers are not allowed and glow in the dark wristbands are available to wear at all four events to help in reuniting parents and children if they become separated.
