At last, spring is in the air

TODAY marks the official start of spring and the season looks promising as temperatures are expected to be double the average for this time of year in some parts of Scotland.

Aberdeen was an unexpected hot spot yesterday as the city’s temperature rose to 16 degrees, higher than in Malta and Alicante and the hottest in the UK. Forecasters are expecting the fine weather to continue tomorrow and Friday.

Met Office forecaster Dan Williams said: “At this time of year, around the equinox, the sun is a bit stronger, so when it does come out it allows the temperatures to warm up.”
