Gas supplies flowing again

Engineers have restored gas supplies to all accessible homes, three days after a ruptured pipe left householders without central heating or hot water.

Some 3,500 homes in the Fishcross, Coalsnaughton, Dollar and Tillicoultry areas of Clackmannanshire were cut off on Tuesday when a farmer accidentally damaged a large pipe while doing drainage work in a field.

Scotland Gas Networks confirmed supplies had been restored as far as possible.

A spokesman said: “We have reconnected all homes where we have been able to gain access. We would like to thank everyone for their patience.”
