Eagle to give Ryder Cup viewers bird’s eye view

FANS will be able to enjoy genuine eagle-eye footage of this weekend’s Ryder Cup at Gleneagles thanks to a publicity stunt arranged by online betting firm Betfair.

Betfair has arranged for a miniature camera to be strapped to an eagle which will fly above the course and provide video and photography footage of the biennial contest between Europe and the United States.

Harry Phillips, Betfair PR manager, said: “Betfair has a heritage of using innovative technology to enhance the experience of sports fans.

“Tennis has hawk-eye, cricket has stump-cam, and we’ve created EagleCam. The Ryder Cup is one of the most passionate sporting events of the year and we’re going to bring fans closer to the action.”
