Mr Raf,40, originally from Denmark, has worked on the Undy estate in Aberdeenshire for the past nine years supplying trees to outlets of B&Q, one of the biggest Christmas tree sellers in the UK.

The Nordmann Fir, which is favoured because it is slow to shed its needles, is the most popular real Christmas tree in Europe and has become a favourite with families in Britain.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the run-up to the festive season, Scotland’s biggest outdoor ice rink opens in Glasgow’s George Square today.

“Glasgow on Ice”, an event which will run until 31 December, offers a host of special activity nights including an ice rink disco on Saturdays.

Music for the Movies will include specially commissioned soundtracks from Hollywood blockbusters to entertain ice fans.

There will also be two
“pop up” performances from the Strathclyde Chamber Choir on 6 December and the Close Shave Choir on 21 December.

Other fun nights include Throwback Thursdays with DJ Gavin Pearson from Radio Clyde playing mucic from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

The city centre square has been transformed for the next six weeks with funfair rides, a Big Wheel and free activities for children and families in the Christmas Workshop.
