Emeli’s hospital inspiration

SCOTTISH singer Emeli Sandé has revealed that the inspiration behind her latest single came from her time as a medical student.

The Brit Award winner will headline a gig at Edinburgh Castle on June 13 to mark the arrival of the Olympic torch in the Capital.

Sandé, 24, spent four years studying medicine at Glasgow University, specialising in neuroscience. She said that her fourth single, My Kind of Love was inspired by patients she met during her time spent in hospital wards.

She said: “It was inspired by the patients and families and the connection that can only really be revealed in a crisis.

“When it really mattered, it was the grandmas, aunties, sons, daughters, husbands and boyfriends that came and stood by the patients’ side and made them feel loved.”
