Additional high-visibility patrols have been introduced in the area in an attempt to re-assure the public and elderly residents.

Detective Superintendent Robbie Allan said: “I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the Brodie Place area of Stonehouse on Wednesday January 3 and may have seen or heard something suspicious to come forward and speak to officers as soon as possible.

“In particular, I would urge anyone who was in the area to think back in case they can remember seeing anyone hanging around who appeared out of place.”
