Elderly woman, 81, dies in Arbroath house fire

An elderly woman has died in a fire in Arbroath, Angus.

The woman, 81, was in a house at Warddykes Avenue when the fire broke out.

Firefighters from Arbroath, Montrose and Carnoustie were called at about 8.15pm yesterday.

The woman was quickly found but she had died from the effects of the fire, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said.

The fire, which is not considered suspicious, was confined to one room and extinguished.
