Edward’s got talent to share with Capital

AS talent show acts go, he was one of the most memorable.

Now the man who wowed Britain’s Got Talent with his medley of nursery rhymes in the style of Snow Patrol is set to entertain at Edinburgh’s own talent contest.

Edward Reid, 37, will be the guest act at the final of Edinburgh’s Got Talent (EGT) at the Festival Theatre in October.

Edward, a drama teacher from Glasgow, said: “I’m really looking forward to it because it’s going to be a big stage I’m performing on. I’m a sucker for talent shows because you could be discovering the next big thing. I love the nerves on people’s faces and I love it when they get past the nerves.”

Edward, who has his own show at the Fringe, urged anyone with a talent to apply for EGT when entries open later this month.

The EGT final on October 26 will see ten acts battle it out and will be hosted by Forth’s One’s Arlene Stuart. The competition, launched by the Evening News and Forth One in 2009, is open to anyone aged 12 or over from
Edinburgh, Lothians and Fife. The winner will receive £1000 and will perform at the Radio Forth Awards in November.

Liam Rudden, Evening News arts and entertainment editor and head judge, said: “Edward thrilled TV audiences nationwide on Britain’s Got Talent. Now he’ll do the same for our audience. I’m sure he’ll also prove a great inspiration to everyone taking part.”

Tickets for the EGT final are now on sale from the Festival Theatre – www.ed
