Edinburgh recycling bin explodes with pizza dough

PAPA John’s pizza chain are investigating after a photo appeared on Twitter showing a recycling bin in Edinburgh overflowing with pizza dough.

The recycling point, allegedly used by the Kentucky-based firm, is in Crown Street, and capital resident Ailsa Burn-Murdoch tweeted the photo on Tuesday morning, adding: “I have a feeling @PapaJohnsUK owe a local sanitation worker free pizza for a year’.

The firm responded by saying they were ‘currently investigating’ with the local store, situated in the Leith area.

Ms Burn-Murdoch later tweeted: “Came out of a meeting to find I’ve created a monster. Also I now want pizza. Odd day.”

The pizza company are yet to offer any explanation for the amount of dough or why it appears to have exploded while in the bin.

Papa John’s, headed up by original founder John Schnatter, has around 120 shops in the UK, and is seeking to own between 400-500 stores by 2015.
