MEMBERS of the public can get help with researching their family history in a session at the National Library of Scotland.

Danish art showcase in town

FANS of obscurist Danish art are in for a treat as an exhibition by the Danish Cultural Institute comes to town.

The display, at 3 Doune Terrace, will showcase Rasmus Dan, Sren Httel and Rasmus Ltken will be open from Mondays to Thursdays and run to February 10.

Filmmaker on stage for Q&A session

FILMMAKER Penny Woolcock will take part in a question-and-answer session in the Capital next month.

On January 13, her documentary On The Streets will be screened at the Filmhouse and the filmmaker will answer questions afterwards.

The following day, Woolcock will discuss her work at Edinburgh's art college. Places for the workshop are free but must be booked by emailing [email protected].

Forum serves up new business breakfast date

A NEW date has been announced for a business breakfast networking event which was cancelled due to heavy snowfall.

The Forum of Private Business had planned to hold the event on December 7, but it has now been rescheduled for January 26. All business owners in the Capital are being urged to attend the free event, which will include a complimentary light breakfast.

It will take place at the George Hotel on George Street, from 8am to 10am.

Gallery tour for free

Free tours of the National Gallery of Modern Art are to be held next month.

The guided tours will focus on the gallery's highlights, many of which were re-hung as part of the gallery's 50th anniversary celebrations this year. Tours will start at 2pm and 3pm on January 8, 2011.

Laughter yoga isn't a stretch for Leithers

TWO yoga classes which encompass laughter to relieve stress arel to start in LeithLaughter yoga, a combination of laughter exercises with yogic breathing, is said to increase the amount of oxygen in the body while being playful, resulting in one feeling more healthy and energised. Classes will be held at the Leith Community Education Centre on Mondays 7pm to 8pm from January 10 and at the Iso Bar on Thursdays 7pm-8pm, starting January 13. The cost is 4/3.
