Edinburgh gets gold at Britain in Bloom Awards

Scotland’s capital has won a top horticultural prize for its parks and green spaces.

Edinburgh won gold in the large city category of the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom Awards last night.

Edinburgh Council environment convener Lesley Hinds, said: “This is fantastic news, I am delighted that Edinburgh has won such a prestigious award.

“This is entirely due to the talents and sheer hard work of our many Friends of Parks’ groups, community volunteers and the Council’s parks team.

“Edinburgh is a stunning city with beautiful parks and green spaces, and we will continue to work towards protecting and enhancing them.”

A gold award recognises an exceptionally high standard of horticultural offering, which promotes best practice and sustainable effort.
