The urban designer has visited a similar centre in Milan, Italy.

He has created 3D models for the building and said it was a critical move given the Capital’s Old and New towns were classed as a World Heritage Site. The proposed site is opposite the rear entrance to Waverley station.

Mr Howson said: “Information about proposed changes to the city of Edinburgh, in particular with regards to what I term ‘high impact developments’, is not in my opinion readily available.”
