East of Scotland: Gretna enjoy narrow final win

GRETNA 2008 lifted the Image Printers East of Scotland Qualifying Cup with a narrow 2-1 victory against 
Stirling University at Albert Park, Hawick.

Marc Shiel gave Gretna the lead before Stirling equalised almost immediately through Paul Sludden. Gretna then regained their advantage before half-time thanks to Dean Crozier’.

Spartans extended their lead at the top of the Central Taxis Premier Division to five points thanks to an Alasdair MacKinnon goal in their 1-0 victory over Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale.

In the only other Premier Division fixture to beat the weather, Edinburgh City’s Peter Stenhouse hit a 35-yard shot with only two minutes to go to secure a 1-0 victory over Tynecastle.

In the First Division, Craigroyston kept their promotion hopes alive with a 4-1 win over Hawick Royal Albert thanks to goals by Errol Douglas (two), Bryan Wilson and Steve McCormack.
