The European eagle owl flew off with its leash still attached during a demonstration at Stirling Castle yesterday.

The large, powerful species has a wingspan of up to 190 cm.

Police say the bird is not a threat to animals and humans.

Anyone who spots the owl is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 and information on the sighting will be passed to the owner.
