Dundee tops list of long-term jobless Scots

In FIVE areas of Scotland at least half the number of jobless people have been out of work for more than six months.

Dundee has the highest proportion, at 52.7 per cent of those who receive jobseeker’s allowance, according to figures uncovered by the GMB trade union.

At least half the number of people claiming the allowance in Dundee City, Clackmannanshire, East Ayrshire, North Ayrshire and Argyll and Bute have done so for six months or more.

Across Scotland, 45.6 per cent of those who claim the allowance have been doing so for six months or more.
