Dundee ‘Santa’ fled after hitting wall - police

POLICE were today hunting “Santa” - after a man in a Father Christmas suit ploughed his car into the garden of a house in Dundee.

The motorist smashed through the garden hedge of a house in the Douglas area of the city in the early hours of the morning on Friday.

Neighbours saw the man - dressed in a full Santa outfit - getting out of the car and making off on foot.

Police issued an appeal for witnesses and said the driver may have been hurt in the collision.

The blue Nissan Micra crashed into the garden of the hosue on Ballindean Road, Dundee, at its junction with Balunie Avenue, at around 5.25am.

Neighbours said the car was retrieved by a tow truck just before 7am.

A worker at a nearby bakery said: “I saw the blue car stuck in the bushes when I arrived at work at ten to six.”

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland’s Tayside Division said: “Police Scotland are keen to trace any witnesses to a road accident in Ballindean Road, Dundee.

“A blue Nissan Micra crashed into the garden of a property near to the junction with Balunie Avenue.

“Anyone who can help trace the driver of the vehicle, who was wearing a Santa suit, and will have likely been injured in the collision, please speak to any Police officer or phone 101.”
