Drunk driver who ignored no entry sign handed ban

A MAN who drank four pints of beer during a night out with colleagues was caught drink-driving by police after ignoring a no entry sign.

Ryan Magee, 26, was banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay a £340 fine after pleading guilty at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday to a charge of drink-driving at around 1.30am on November 19.

Magee was breathalysed by officers in Holyrood Road after being pulled over by officers who spotted him going through a no entry sign near the Cowgate.

Magee, who lives in Holyrood Road, told the court he had been drinking with colleagues in Stockbridge, and was “very ashamed” that he made the decision to drive home.
