Drumming up recruits

ASPIRING drummers are being given the chance to perform at this year’s Edinburgh Mela.

The Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers are looking to recruit novice percussionists – aged between 16 and 25 – to teach them the ancient Japanese discipline that combines rhythm and martial arts.

They will then go onto perform at the festival later this year.

Taster sessions will be held at the North Edinburgh Arts Centre until tomorrow.

Edinburgh Mela is billed as being one of Europe’s largest multicultural events.
