Drugs seized in shop raid

POLICE swooped on a newsagents on London Road, seizing drugs and a five-figure sum of cash.

Police today said a 36-year-old man and 25-year-old woman had been detained following the raid on the Booze n News shop in the city’s Abbeyhill at 11.15am on Wednesday.

A spokesperson said: “Police conducted an intelligence-led search at a business premise on London Road.

“A quantity of drugs and a five-figure sum of cash were found within the premises and these have been seized by officers.”
