Filmed high above St Andrews earlier this month with a drone, it captures the East Sands and harbour before sweeping along the West Sands and turning to show the Old Course Hotel and Old Course, particularly the 18th fairway.

The three-and-a-half minute aerial film was taken by Dale Summerton, of Dundee.

Although he owns a computer shop in the city, Dale (31) is only a recent convert to the high-tech world of drones.

“It was a completely unexpected Christmas present from my brother - I hadn’t even done any photography before let along filmed and edited anything,” he said.

However, his short films taken above Dundee became an instant hit on his social media sites and he decided to look further afield for new subjects.

“I’d been to St Andrews many times before but the drone filmed things I wasn’t even aware of, such as the harbour area,” he said.

Dale uses a Phantom 2 drone quadcopter and has now set up a small business venture to explore the commercial potential of filming with the drone - all his films can be seen at www.risingview.co.uk.
