Driving range tees up extension proposals

THE driving range of a city golf course is set to get extended.

The owner of the Braid Hills Golf Centre at Liberton Drive is to submit plans to extend the facility into adjoining land.

The plans are also to include a small "booth-type building" with toilets and other facilities for users of the driving range.

Councillors at tomorrow's development management committee are to be given notification of the forthcoming application.

Planning officials have said that issues around the plans will include whether the development is acceptable in principle, given that it will be located on the green belt, and whether the proposed building is of an acceptable scale.

Other issues to be considered include whether access arrangements are acceptable, the existing car parking provision will be sufficient and whether there will be any archaeological issues to consider.
