Drivers saddled with bike lane closing road

A SECTION of the West Approach Road is to be closed for a month in the summer while a new bike lane is built.

The route of the new cycle lane will run 175 metres from the West Approach Road, at Tollcross, to the EICC Access Cycleway.

Work is expected to begin in early June and diversions will remain in place for around four weeks.

It is expected one lane will be closed while the works, which will cost around £45,000, are carried out.

Existing traffic signs will be relocated and new traffic signs will be installed and new curbing will also feature.

The city council advertised the work to contractors this week.

It is expected that traffic management diversions will be brought in while the works are carried out.
