Driver caught three times over the limit

A DRUNK driver spotted by an off-duty police officer weaving from lane to lane on the Edinburgh city bypass was three-and-a-half times over the legal limit, a court has heard.

Linda Felli drew the officer's attention because she was driving so slowly and erratically that a queue of traffic had built up behind her.

Felli, of Musselburgh, appeared for sentence at Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday. She earlier pleaded guilty to driving on January 21 with an alcohol count of 120 microgrammes per millilitre of breath. The legal limit is 35 mg.

Felli was banned from driving for two years and fined 630. She was given permission to take a drink-driver rehabilitation course which will reduce her disqualification period by a quarter.
