Riverdale police told NJ.com that Brian Chellis, 23, was found slumped in a van in the early hours of Friday wearing an elf costume.

Lt. James Macintosh confirmed that the Cedar Grove resident was fast asleep behind the wheel of the vehicle, with its engine running, lights on and music playing loudly on the car stereo.

Police said that Chellis seemed ‘confused’ about where he was, and had an open can of beer in the car. He was issued a summons and allowed home with a family member.

A message left over the weekend seeking comment from Chellis wasn’t immediately returned.
